Cambrian College to Launch Informative Battery Electric Vehicle Maintenance Course

Battery-operated machines are the future of mining and pretty soon, that’s all mining is going to be about. As the use of battery electric vehicles (“BEVs”) grows in today’s mining industry, the demand for skilled workers to maintain and implement this new technology also increases.

Cambrian College will be launching a Corporate Training course that will ensure that employees who are already working in the mining industry can obtain the expertise needed to operate these vehicles through extensive training and also obtain the necessary qualifications.

Manager of Cambrian R&D’s Center for Smart Mining, Stephen Gravel, stated in a press release that the most important yet overlooked component in the adoption and implementation of new technologies and techniques in the mining industry is making sure that the workforce is sufficiently and efficiently trained. The main barrier most firms face when trying to implement new technologies such as BEVs into mining operations is the lack of comfort and familiarity among technicians who are versed in operating heavy duty equipment in the field.”

Cambrian’s Center for Smart Mining addresses this issue through targeted technology upskilling in various high-tech areas, the first being battery electric vehicle operation. Cambrian College Center for Smart Mining has partnered with Cambrian’s Corporate Training division to deliver the Battery Electric Vehicle training course. The course was specifically designed for technicians who operate heavy-duty equipment and are employed in the mining industry.

The training course will commence online this fall and will be administered by a qualified instructor. If you’d prefer in-person learning, classes are expected to commence once activities resume fully on the college’s campus in the future. Individuals who would like to upgrade their skills or learn will gain useful industry knowledge through these 4 units:

  • Introduction to battery electric mobile equipment.
  • Fundamentals of battery electric vehicle safety.
  • Practical Battery Electric Vehicle Training.
  • Introduction to battery electric vehicle communication and troubleshooting.

Bill Best, Cambrian’s president, stated that the college was committed to keeping up with the latest industry trends and also ensuring that their courses met the industry’s demands. The advancements that have occurred in mining, particularly with innovation and the shift to battery electric vehicles, are just one of the areas where Cambrian College has an upper hand. He urged those that were looking to upgrade their skillset to take the course. This would enable them to take up the jobs that will be created as more automation is implemented in the mining sector.

It would be interesting to hear what mining companies like Bullfrog Gold Corp. (CSE: BFG) (OTCQB: BFGC) (FSE: 11B) have to say about this new course.
