US Utility-Scale Energy Storage Installation Tripled in 2021

The American Clean Power Association recently released its latest yearly figures for utility-scale battery energy storage system installations in the United States. The figures show a significant increase in installations, highlighting that last year, this number increased by more than 195% to 2.6GW. However, overall clean power installations also dropped by 3%, with installations in the fourth quarter in 2021 also declining by more than 30%. The utility-scale battery energy storage system capacity also quadrupled over the course of last year, with the trade body finding that the energy made up 2% of the nation’s total clean power capacity. Cameco to Resume Operations at McArthur River Mine
