US Utility-Scale Energy Storage Installation Tripled in 2021

The American Clean Power Association recently released its latest yearly figures for utility-scale battery energy storage system installations in the United States. The figures show a significant increase in installations, highlighting that last year, this number increased by more than 195% to 2.6GW. However, overall clean power installations also dropped by 3%, with installations in the fourth quarter in 2021 also declining by more than 30%. The utility-scale battery energy storage system capacity also quadrupled over the course of last year, with the trade body finding that the energy made up 2% of the nation’s total clean power capacity. US Government to Award $3 Billion in Grants to Support Battery Value Chain

Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Energy awarded a limited breakdown for grants that would be used to improve battery production for the energy storage and electric vehicle markets. Cameco to Resume Operations at McArthur River Mine

Cameco, the biggest publicly traded uranium company in the world, recently announced its plans to resume operations at its McArthur River mine.
