Silver: Returning to Germany Through A Winding History, from the Viking Era to Modern Technology

Germany has been integral to silver production historically, including the Rammelsberg Mine that produced for over 1,000 years continuously through 1988. Excellon has a license to explore a massive land package, dubbed “Silver City,” after the heritage name for Freiberg (Silberstadt), spanning 341.5 square kilometers that has produced billions of dollars in silver from shallow depths. Excellon is a first mover in Saxony, with the first drilling using modern technology cutting 1,042 g/t AgEq, while defining a major epithermal silver system over 12 kilometers. If someone could do a flyby of the history of silver, they would cover the globe…

First Company to Mine Plastics Debuts on Toronto Stock Exchange

Despite more people in the world adopting more sustainable ways of living, it is still not enough, it seems, given that less than 9% of plastic waste globally is recycled. Additionally, in spite of efforts by municipalities and governments to offer monetary incentives, the amount of plastics that aren’t recyclable grows by a considerable fraction annually and finds its way into our food, seas and even our bodies. It seems straightforward, then, to rid ourselves and the world of plastic altogether, does it not? However, this discussion is much larger than us, as we’d first need to find a way…

Opposition to Mining in the U.S. May Affect Energy Transition

As more countries around the world adopt the use of electric vehicles and that of sustainable energies, the disconnect between the crucial need for various minerals required for the batteries of electric cars as well as the advancement of wind and solar power, and the processes used in mining to extract said minerals, grows larger. This is mainly because these processes negatively impact the environment, which may likely become a public bone of contention. With the Biden/Harris administration striving to achieve its Green New Deal-related goals, which propose an end to internal combustion engines and the use of fossil fuels…
